Approximately 15 minutes from Pagudpud, the
overpowering beauty of the Bangui Windmills can be seen from the main
highway.
The Bangui windfarm was built in
2005 spearheaded by the former Governor Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to address
the poor quality of electricity provided by the National Power
Corporation (NAPOCOR) .There were only 15 of these, but they eventually
added 5 more. Since then, it became part of the must visit destinations in Ilocos Norte.
Stalls selling souvenirs dot its coastline. They also sell drinks and snacks for tourists. It is the first and the biggest in Southeast Asia. Kuya Arnel said that the windmills stop turning if enough electricity have been generated and that these giant fans automatically locate the wind direction for efficiency. Or something.Basta ganun :)Rough road |
Just happy |
I saw kids swimming which is nice. I think if they add additional huts, more tourists would frequent the area. Or baka they're trying to regulate yung influx ng tourists para hindi madefeat yung purpose ng windmills?Kase di naman talaga siya picnic ground? That's me over analyzing, more like.
And because it the sun was unforgiving that afternoon, our sightseeing was cut short. We were off to our next destination: . Kapurpurawan Rock Formation
