El Nido : The Twin Beaches of Nacpan and Calintang

On our second day in El Nido,we were torn between island hopping and visiting Nacpan. What made matters worse was the sudden downpour that morning.

Cadlao Island caressed by rain clouds.

But I guess the gods were empathic and finally gave us a glimpse of sunlight around 9am.Kuya Rodrigo told us that it will be a tough ride to Nacpan considering that it just rained. We politely acknowledged the warning but still went on searching for a motorbike. Whole day rent was Php 400 (9-6 pm) in Rick and Son's and we just had to return it with full tank in the afternoon. Good deal right?

The first few kilometers were scenic and easy going. We had to ask the locals for directions and they gladly answered our queries with a smile.Upon taking a left turn towards Calintang Elementary School, the roads started to become narrow and the path became more treacherous.

Some muddy trail became unbearable that I had to get down & push the bike from time to time and wash our mud covered limbs on the nearby stream.

Here we go again. :)

Ilang beses kami nabalahaw. We were still all smiles though. With the occasional stares we got from the locals,we were more than determined to arrive. There must be something special, something extraordinary at the end of all this.

Mama always reminded us to have a "strike anywhere" attitude :)

I'm not maarte or anything but,it was my first time to get really soiled and muddy. It actually felt good. For some weird reason,I felt alive.

With this rewarding view, I'd gladly do it all over again :)

As I caught sight of the waves of Nacpan beach gently crashing on its blindingly white shore,I realized why we had to go through all those challenges to be able to witness its beauty.
The fine white sand with the little islets on the backdrop was picture perfect. One local pointed at a nearby island said to be owned by Manny Pacquiao. Who wouldn't want a scenery as perfect  as this?

On the other side

On the left side of the shore is a nearby hill where the other twin is located.

Sometimes, its better to go beyond the line to see what's in store and boy I'm glad we did! :)

Twin beaches of Nacpan and Calintang

"Do what you want and do it often."

How to reach the twin beaches of Nacpan and Calintang:

Several tricycles would agree to bring you to Nacpan Beach for a day trip. Rates usually start at Php800 including gas.

If you're an adrenaline junkie and wouldn't mind driving your way through rough roads, motorbike rental shops are scattered all through out the town. They would require you to leave a valid I.D. and would need to fill out some papers for documentation purposes. Rates usually start at Php400 for the whole day rent.

Take the road toward the airport. Keep going straight and take the Pasadena- Bucana road until you reach the Calintang Elementary School Marker . Turn left.

You will know that you're almost there once you see this:
