TRAVEL GUIDE: Siquijor

Siquijor is known to be the smallest island in the country. With the 102 kilometer coastline, it boasts of its white sandy beaches and mangrove forests. The island of fire also contributes to the country's mystical Caves, gracefully cascading waterfalls and panoramic views.

Travel tips:
  •  The waves can be a little rough in the afternoon. I remembered one passenger shouting "Halleluiah Dumaguete!" after an hour and fifteen minutes of crossing through the turbulent waters from Siquijor.
  • Waterproof your things.
Local folks near  Salagdoong Beach. Can't get any better than THIS!

  • Upon reaching Siquijor, many tricycle drivers in the pier will offer island tour services. Prices can start at Php1000 depending on your haggling skills. The tricycles are huge and can take up to 4 passengers.
  • We chose Kuya Joam because of good reviews. He is highly recommended. He is polite, very familiar with the tourist spots and even looked for a cheap place for us to spend the night.
Kuya Joam and Amjo

  • Motorbikes are available if you want to tour the island on your own. Maps are available and rates ranges from Php300-350 for 24 hours.

If my dad sees this he'll be like "Oh boy! This is beautiful! " tapos paulit ulit lang :)

  • We were supposed go around Dumaguete, but Siquijor is so beautiful that we had to drive around the island the following day and spend another night in the island.

One day, I promise to jump off this cliff. But for now, I'll just sit here

  • During the rainy season, the San Juan beach stretch is filled with sea grass. But of course, its still up to you. The beach is still pretty nonetheless.
  • Entrance fee in Salagdoong is Php15.
  • There are many cheap accommodations in the island depending on your budget and preference. The provincial government created a PDF file that includes the list of accommodations available with their corresponding rates. Click here.
  • There's a water refilling station right beside the Siquijor State College.Just for P8 for 1 liter of cold water. :)
  • Tricycle fares depend on you destination. Average would be around P10 per head or it can go up to Php400 for a chartered trip from Siquijor Port to Salagdoong Beach.
